Pet peeve du jour: MEDIUM soft drinks!!
Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 07:03 PM by Critters2
So, I'm driving back from a hospital visit, listening to Roland Martin ranting about something on Ron Reagan's show when I realize I'm thirsty. I pull up to the drive thru at an Arby's and order a MEDIUM Sprite. A MEDIUM!!! What I get is TOO LARGE to fit in my cup holder!!! If I wanted that much pop/soda, why would I not have ordered a large? I mean
:wtf:

How can a medium be too big for an average cup holder? Hell!! If it's that cheap, why don't they just give it away free?

Later, I'll rant about Roland Martin. Stay tuned!

1. Well at least it wasn't too small.
Food and drink sizes have gotten ridiculously bigger.

3. Usually there is so much ice...
that you need a large drink to get a decent amount of pop.

7. Why is that funny?
Those of us who say pop to refer to sweetened carbonated beverages DO make up a rather large segment of the US population, you know. :P

8. But those of us in New England are more important, remember
Hence, you shall refer to said beverages as "tonic". "Soda" will be tolerated but not encouraged.

10. I'll think about that after I refill my glass of pop.
Which I'm not actually going to do, because I'm switching to beer.

21. Pop!!!!
Quite a large part of the country says pop....check out the map. I actually say coke more often since that's the brand I drink (guess I'm a southern in that respect). You NE liberal elitists trying to push your words on the rest of the country, lol.

4. I remember when a Small was an 8 oz. cup
and cost 10 cents. A medium was a 12 oz cup and cost 15 cents. A large was a 16 oz cup and was a quarter, but nobody ever wanted that much soda pop! This is why so many children are diabetics!

6. They're trying to kill us all
by poisoning us with high fructose corn syrup and unhealthy foods. Do they even have a small size on the menu? Many places don't any more. I join you in petting that peeve.

 Yeah, different guy altogether! I'm talking about THE Roland Martin, prize-winning journalist and all-around irritant on Anderson Cooper's show. Maybe he's the nicest guy in the world, but he grates on me. Here's our friend Roland: http://www.rolandsmartin.com/

18. well thats who i'm talking about - THE Roland Martin
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_Martin_(fisherman)

He's in all three angling hall of fames!

Fishing in 69 tournaments, Martin's BASSMASTER career includes the following achievements - 19 tournaments won, 9 B.A.S.S. Angler-of-the-Year titles, nearly 100 Top Ten finishes, and 25 appearances in bass fishing's world championship event, the BASS Masters Classic. Also a record, he has twenty 2nd place ASS finishes. His career tournament winnings exceeded one million dollars in 2004.

Roland Martin was the first professional bass fisherman to be inducted into all three Halls of Fame (IGFA Hall of Fame, Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame).

22. My peeve is there ARE NO SMALLS on the menu.
I tell them, "the one you give kids in those package meals is fine." They let me know, nicely, that they don't sell those separately. WTF?!

Like you, a medium is too freaking much for me, cupholder aside. My soft drink limit is about 6 - 10 ounces. I miss the really olden days when you could get 10-oz Pepsi (in a glass bottle). Now you can get 12-oz plastic bottles, which I do, and drink them at two separate meals to finish them off. I can't buy the 12-oz cans because I won't drink them in one sitting and they go flat. I have the same problem with 2-litre bottles. My goodness, the stuff would be pure syrup by the time I finished it...

Good thread, mostly because I got to vent too. :-)
