Midnight Poetry Thread
A piece of glass below my feet
drew my eyes
transfixed by the reflection
Sharpened shards
the result of
the concrete deflection
at once a prism
filled with every color
and a possibility of pain
with an ill intentioned move
I had thought myself immune
from the possibilities
and concentrate on the
reflection
the result of introspection
I am filled with every color
may it stay that way
day after day after day.

I just spent 28 days in rehab folks. I am going to do my best to survive, but that's it. Thanks for reading.

Hang in there man. Nothing you can't handle. Goddess bless.

Sitting at a red light
next to a beautiful woman,
With “I love you a lot”
written on her window
And a rap song of death and hate
Blaring from her radio.
I smile to myself, finding this akin
To listening to Generals speak of
“Fighting for peace”
And thinking how much this is like
“Fucking for virginity”
I don’t know, do you?
Perhaps one day I will,
And I fear it will drive me insane.
Maybe that’s the secret,
Lose it all to gain it all.
I guess I’ll just avoid the rush,
Buy myself a straight jacket
And go crazy early.

Dean is my favorite
Presidential candidate
Dean 2004!

Election 04:
I'd take anyone but Bush,
But Dean's my favorite.

Belief goes a long way - even in a political relationship. I may be an admirer of your man as I find out more. I've been out of the loop for awhile.

And spill me
Across the

8. Here is one
Remember hope runs eternal.

SHAMEN TO THE CHILDREN
BIN Laden and
Broken bodies
Are of this world.
In the next there is no
Us and them
We will not hate
That everlasting human flame
Shall be put out.
We will not fear
That ice that stills our mortal heart
Will melt.
Next
Comes unity
Like my green bean bag chair
Enveloped together
Comfort like a puppy
Hopping into your bed
And snuggling against you
Butt to butt
Sleep now
and do not worry
Children.

10. Another one
IT CALLS
COUGHING again
I look at the electrical socket
Old rusted and green
Does it work?
Maybe I should stick a fork in and see.

Well, that's that.

best wishes for your recovery, you have already
got a great start for your new life free from
the bondage of addiction. Remember to do 90
meetings in 90 days, it is the best investment
you will ever make for yourself.

16. thank you!
I've got it covered - spent the last bunch of years sending others to meetings - now I'm with many of them (small town) - but feel comfortable so far. A little shaky about things - I'm not your average person - probably way below - but I am going to try. Thanks everyone for positive thoughts. I know at times I had been a total creep.

absolutely right!

I like the line:
Do not attempt to fix it.

That's what I have tried for --------- ever. It doesn't work. You can't fix what's only different - not broken.

19. Welcome back
You were gone but not
to you, painfully to you
to step outside to breathe
just a little longer before
sinking back into the pain
no relief bought on credit
building up charges that
have to be repaid
with interest.

.......................................
Stream of conciousness, hopefully appropriate for the time.
Welcome back

I'm a noddle
One of a kind
The only noddle
one will find
noddles are okay
noddles are alright
noddles just sometimes
go out of sight
yeah yeah yeah

23. Progress
Listen, suppose I answered with
A kiss to your cheek, cupping my hand around

Your head, hair matted and frayed, your eyes
Still as undiscovered pools, shafts of light

Braking over petrified forest; we sit as in Taos,
Alone at the edge of that great gorge, bits of

Garbage strewn along the Colorado River bank;
The scent of sage hanging above us;

Your hands tremble a bit in the sunshine, a mesa
Further west begins to blush in the moving afternoon

Light, its dulcet side amber, the color of time.

26. I am quite partial to Jabberwocky, though it may not be true poetry
"Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
    The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought--
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
    And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
    And burbled as it came!

One two! One two! And through and through
    The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
    He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
    He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe. " This work is of course by Lewis Carroll

27. Another goofy one
(to be sung in a country sort of twangy way)

I was born on my grandma's bed
not a single word was said
my sister said hello to her cousin
that was me
I was born on my grandma's bed

I was raised by my older sister Mae
She asked if I was gonna stay
cause I wasn't related
and by relatives was hated
I was born on my grandma's bed

My momma said I think I know you well
but by your looks, I just couldn't tell
she said she can't
admit to bein' my aunt cause
I was born on my grandma's bed.

I have no idea what that stream of consciousness was about.

31. Open Knowledge
Temped out to the living field
You walk across a mind’s

Lifetime, the unlearned body diminishes,
Your frame a sallow shell, fed only

By those feckless voices panicking for
Perfection, the Tree of Knowledge sent

Up as a whore, burned down to feed the
Neon and the steel at an Empire’s last

Conquest.

33. Conquest
exists only in the tired eyes
of those with neon and steel
hearts.

The tree of questioning gives
an answer to he who lives
far away from the neon
far gone from the steel
there are no voices heard
in the places life is real

someone starts
a question of what is real
feeling themselves only a whore
or
a shallow shell
but they must know who departs
from the Empire's lust
not turned to dust
only questioning
far away from the shell
those who dare not tell
of the feel of the grip
of those made of steel

There is not conquest
without request
an inquest is not to be desired
I would never have hired
someone who
pokes around inside my shell
the answer imparts
only questioning
from a shell
who dares not tell
they are an inch away
from dust.

34. Relief
Relief

Released from the state
Desire now a memory, like
Wine from the vine

A simple rant against
Slant toward the King
And all his court

Neon his lover, steel
A palace guard placed
From afar

First here then there
We stare endless glares
And turn to go

But only for show, because
We shall stay right here another
Year to the calls of take arms

Against yet another peer.
