1. The only good thing to be said about him is that he inspired a really great song
about what a dick he is.

Which I can't be bothered to find on youtube. Somebody else kindly dig up a link?

2. Couldn't play his way out of a paper bag. Fucked underage girls.
Wrote boring songs like "Good Friends and a Bottle of Wine"

5. Also re-wrote "Stranglehold" in a desperate attempt for a hit
The title track from this album:

...is basically a "follow the template" re-write of "Stranglehold." It tanked.

17. He's also massively overrated, and a huge chickenhawk. When it was his time to serve,
Edited on Tue Mar-03-09 10:52 AM by redqueen
he went to some extreme lengths to get out of it.

He's got... what... three decent songs? Pfft.

7. You're right...
...and they're in.

I actually like the version of "Baby Please Don't Go" on Paul Revere & The Raiders' album "Just Like Us" better...it was performed by Phil "Fang" Volk and he really laid it on THICK ("'fore I'll be your DOG I'll make you walk the LOG," etc):

The whole album is a garage rock stomp-fest. Volk also tackles The Animals' "I'm Cryin," and the legendary "Nuggets" box set pulled two tracks from here, "Just Like Me" and "Steppin' Out." This album, for me, is the epitome of the so-called "desert island discs."

8. Here's some rules
-Don't ever look at the Nuge directly in the eye.
-Don't Pull on the Nuge's hair.
-Don't ever pull out a wrist rocket and shoot him in the face. Don't do that alright?
-If he ever wants to talk about hunting, particularly bow hunting, get interested.

Alright you dumbasses. Don't screw this up.

10. I grew up liking his music a lot.
I've sort of outgrown it, but wouldn't rush to turn it off. I still like the Double Live Gonzo album and certain songs - Smokescreen, Free for All, etc.

I never let political views influence who I watch or listen to. Nugent's a psycho, but I like his music a lot better than I like the music of people who are closer to me politically - Springsteen, for instance. I'd listen to a week of Nugent without a break before I'd listen to five minutes of Springsteen. I hear Gary Sinise is a Repug, but I still watch CSI: NY. Since I think Freepers who refuse to watch anything featuring Martin Sheen / Tim Robbins / etc. are mindless assholes, I refuse to stoop to their level. I know a guy who absolutely loves House, but stopped watching the show as soon as he found out that "the bitch that plays Cuddy is a lib."

BTW, that picture...remember the psycho who killed Cyrus in The Warriors? If you've seen him on TV lately, he looks EXACTLY like that mugshot.

11. I hear ya...
...I know all about Bruce Springsteen the man, Bruce Springsteen the political activist...but the song that opens his new album, "Outlaw Pete," should have never made it out of the editing room.

The "Ted Nugent" album...

...the one with "Stranglehold"...is like "Frampton Comes Alive." As Mike Miers said in "Wayne's World," it was shipped to everyone in the suburbs along with packets of "Tide." There was no getting away from it on FM radio in its heyday.

13. He also put on a hell of a show in the day.
Saw him in '76 & '77. Still have a button from one of those shows..."If It's Too Loud, You're Too Old". Man my ears rang for three days after each one!

14. I've got no big problem with his music.
He managed to blow Skid Row off the stage when I saw 'em opening for Kiss. Then the Nooge had to open his mouth, and we knew there was going to be trouble when he yelled, "If you come to America, speak English!" We walked out when he got a piece of the crowd chanting, "Janet Reno is a dirty whore!"

He's a spoiled child.

20. Other.
I hate the fucking idiot so much that words fail.

He is a disgrace and he can go fuck himself. He is a racist prick who moved to fucking CRAWFORD TX so he could hang with W. If he walked across the street in front of me while driving, he should really learn to RUN.

He is a liar and a draft dodging piece of shit who has sex with little girls. As a mother, this makes me so mad that I would have to be physically restrained from choking the son of a bitch.

In an article in Rolling Stone he bragged about shitting in his pants to get out of going to Vietnam. A real American hero.

Fuck him and the horse he killed with his M16.

22. Calling Nugent a STOOGE demeans the REAL STOOGES

Nuge isn't fit to carry the late, great Ron Asheton's guitar picks. Nugent has always sucked, currently sucks, and will undoubtedly go on sucking into the sunset.

Oh, and BTW: NUGENT SUCKS

He's pretty much a non-entity in my life; I don't think I've ever played any of his stuff on my show, though I think I've played "Journey To The Center Of Your Mind" by The Amboy Dukes a few times over the years..

28. I like his music but don't necessarily agree with his politics.
I usually don't give a rat's ass about what an entertainer thinks about the world or what their political views are. As long as they're not spewing their beliefs in their songs, I really don't care.
