Motherfucking iPod!
I just plugged it in to update my podcasts and pretty much all the content on there is showing as "Other" rather than Audio, Video, whatever. It's still about 100gb full, which means everything should still be on there, but the iPod just isn't recognizing the content.

Anyone ever encounter this problem? Have any suggestions as to what I should do?

2. That's odd.
I have no idea but here's a kick for more visibility. Good luck.

I think I had that problem once.

IIRC, I unplugged the iPod and restarted it and that fixed it. It was a while ago, so I'm not sure. If that still doesn't fix it, back up your content (get iPodDisk or iPodRip or one of those to get stuff off the iPod itself - if you don't already have it), then restore the iPod to factory settings (Hit "Restore" in that iPod screen in iTunes), then load your stuff back on.

5. Yeah, I'm gonna try that tonight after work. Restarting it didn't help.

6. Balls.
I reformatted my iPod this weekend. It's s few years old and was getting slow and some disk sectors were corrupt, so some songs would cut out 12 seconds from the end. Runs like a dream so far, now.

Does your iPod show up in the iTunes sidebar as just "iPod" (not whatever you named it) and display no library, playlist, etc.? I remember that happening once, and it was kind of frightening.

Good luck.

7. No, it still shows up with its name and shows music up through the Bs.
And when I go into the iPod_Control folder on the iPod itself I can access the music and play it. So the plan now is to copy that folder to my desktop, format the iPod, and then import it all in via the Library.

8. That's really weird sounding.
Sounds like you have the right course of action planned, though.

9. Yeah, I'm gonna be pissed if it doesn't work.
100gb of music and podcasts. That's a lot of stuff, haha.

10. As long as you can get it off and onto other media, I'd say it's OK.
I'd be pissed if I lost my entire library. I back it up religiously.

11. Mission accomplished.
I am good. In fact, the process seems to have fixed some of the weird album art problems I was having, so that is a bonus. Not quite worth the stress and frustration, but nevertheless.
