Well, darn.

He was still a hoot in Iron Man--although I don't know if you can call him playing the part of a womanizing party animal "acting!"

Alternatley it was a role he prepped his entire life for. ;)

8. He's a bit ambiguous, but he says he's no longer a liberal.
He recently said this: "I have a really interesting political point of view, and it's not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you can't go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You can't. I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics every since."

And at another time he bragged about having a photo of himself and W, but I don't know if that was political alignment or boasting of his achievements.

So I don't know exactly what that means. He was a Clinton supporter in 92, but he went through his own hell after that, and no doubt had to redefine his life just to stay alive. Maybe he only rejects what he thinks of as "liberal" Hollywood permissiveness (he would have to to stay alive), or Hollywood's constant defense of convicts that they see as innocent.

Or maybe he means he's a full-blown Limbaugh conservative, I don't know. He says "interesting political point of view," which doesn't sound like he lines up with anyone. Although in Hollywood he may just be afraid to say what he believes.

More than you care to know or I cared to write.

11. Druggies, like conservatives, need LOTS of structure in their lives
The difference being that with addicts, the structure is there to contain the core problems whereas with conservatives the desire for structure is kinda the root of the problem.

Of course if he's living in L.A. and doing drugs and hanging out with limosine liberals, he may well be getting exposed to the shallow sorts of liberals that inhabit the don't-have-to-work class. many of those people are out of touch with what liberalism is really about.

7. I don't think he is...
He was on the annual Newsweek roundtable talking about how happy he was that Obama was elected. I am not sure where the Republican rumor floating comes from.

I think it might stem from Robert Davi/Robert Downey Jr, lol. A news blog. posted he was there but he was actually in Japan when the RNC was going on. Weird photos of him with a robot if you want to check getty, lol.

9. It comes from his own comments, but he didn't really say he was a Republican.
I quoted it above, but it's still in my cut and paste. Enjoy working it out. :)
