Is it possible to stop "junk" calls to my cell phone?

I call them "junk" calls because they remind me of junk mail. Unsolicited trash that I have to deal with one way or another.

I don't answer these calls. I do write the numbers down and google them, and each time it's the same: the number is listed among several others, with the phrases "who is calling me" and "do not answer!" and the like.

Is there any way to turn this crap off?

1. No, most of them dial every number in an exchange.

I have a fun way of dealing with "Press one to speak to a representative". I press one, wait for "Hello", and then ring the doorbell with the phone down by the dogs. They love doing that.

2. Have you tried the "Do Not Call List"? I put my cellphone on it nearly a year ago,

and those calls have pretty much stopped.
