1. Ah, I love the Flo & Eddie band
The Groupie Opera really struck a chord with me as a teenager. Nothing like rock stars making a show out of mocking the rock star lifestyle.

2. My brother set me up with a blind date for their show at Boston Music Hall
Chuck Berry was the opening act. We got there late, but just in time to see him deliver his unbelievable, duck-walking, paint-peeling Johnny B. Goode.

Chuck got bitter later in life and started phoning in his shows, often delivering sloppy and apathetic performances. Not on this night. He was AMAZING.

Zappa did a bit that never landed on one of his "official" albums, about "God's Girlfriend & the Magic Pig," and it's easiest one of the filthiest things I've ever heard, delivered with unapologetic glee by Flo & Eddie.

My date looked like the kid sister of Carole King as she appeared on the "Tapestry" album cover. She wore a white turtleneck sweater and jeans with a big peace medal around her neck. Once Flo & Eddie started spewing their magic, she sat perfectly motionless and silent throughout the entire show. She didn't say a word on the ride home, either. My brother drove and brought a buddy. They went to the Boston Playboy Club and got hammered while my date and I enjoyed the show. Well, I enjoyed the show. She went to her happy place, which was anywhere but in my presence.
