23. At least 75% here too
and it's true; one regrets what one didn't do more than what one did.

10. My dear MrPerson...
I've heard it said, and I agree, that you should never regret anything that once made you smile...

Regret, like worry, is a useless emotion. IMHO anyway.

I've also heard it said, and again I agree, that you should only regret the things you didn't get to do...

I refuse to regret.

I wish you the same...

11. That's so dependent on personality.
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 08:59 PM by sammythecat
I think if you could somehow have 5 different people live the same life I bet percentages of regret would vary significantly. An action I take might cause me a lot of regret while you, or someone else, might have very little regret. Or none. A perfectionist is going to have a lot of regret.

15. If you mean do I regret some actions? Yes
do I regret the path my life has taken? No, because it is just one of many paths that it could have taken and I have no idea where it is really going. I have ideas, but 5 years ago I didn't think I'd be living in a 1 bedroom apartment, divorced, and wondering if I will be able to own a home again in the near future...or wonder if I'm really better off single because I have come to enjoy the freedom of it, however a pillow to snuggle with isn't the same, so now and again it is nice to have a person to snuggle..., but all the time? Haven't decided that one yet, and it may not be my decision. Just trying to go with the flow and not fight the river.

:hi:

21. I try not to regret
As I sit here at age 40 after being married and having children, I don't regret a thing. Of course, I'm about to get divorced and move on to the next chapter in my life, but all I can do is look forward to my future. I realize that nothing is ever too late to change. My life isn't over yet. I'm looking forward to what comes next.

24. Some of it, sometimes.
But don't dwell on it.

Every now and then do a "Well, shit. Ya know, I probably should've..."

And the do an "Oh well" and then move on.

25. Sometimes way too much.
I used to regret so much.Thing is though that living nothing but regrets takes away from you enjoying the here and now. Life is lived in the present.

26. none if you like who you are right now
Everyone screws up and for many of us, that's how we learn the big lessons. If you're happy with who you are today, then there's nothing to regret because every mistake, every perceived missed opportunity leads you to where you are right now.

Than something you HAVEN'T

And if you see your mom - tell her I said

31. A significant amount, but a lot less than half. Then again, I'm still young (24).
I just hope it doesn't pile up with age, to the point that I'm one of those bitter old guys (a lot of them alcoholics) who live completely in the past. Better to die young than be miserable later, I suppose...

34. For years, I bitterly regretted a job/career path I took.

I don't now. Maybe I've just accepted that's what I did, and can't change it now.

But I know where you're coming from.
