Fight Club
What if someone in real life did what they did in fight club and blow up a bunch of credit card company buildings while they were empty. Would that do anything? Would everyone reset to 0?

1. It probably won't have the effect that was predicted in the movie
These companies probably have back up servers elsewhere

A global reset would cause world wide chaos of biblical proportions: Plague and locusts, the seas turning into blood and the Moon falling from the firmament.

Stuff like this would happen:

Doom for all!

Then we'd stop for lunch and start all over again.

3. How do we know it did anything in the movie?
First, since we learned that Fight Club had infiltrated everywhere and were prescient enough to predict all probabilities, we can assume they understood where the servers were and had people on the inside to take care of them, too. The buildings were for show.

Second, the movie ended with the buildings coming down. More than likely the next morning the Feds arrested Tyler and his gang, laughing at their naivete at believing blowing up some buildings would do much of anything.

So take your pick. Sit at your diner table and listen to Journey on the juke.

But no, in real life I doubt you'd be able to find all the servers with your information on them for even one credit card, much less all of them.

5. Sure, if the credit card companies were dumb enough to
keep all info in that one area without remote backup servers / storage. However, since they're not, it would simply be an expensive case of vandalism.

6. In a real life fight club who knows who works where.
I would think it would be better to program the computers to zero out everyone's account.

Not everyone in fight club was blue collar.
