But there's a dearthness of them here and I have a $500 unpaid medical bill to the local hospital which limits my options (it's the first thing I'm paying for when I get my tax money back, but I just don't have the money right now).
I'm 24, I've been experiencing pain and pressure in my chest (mostly the left side), and pain and numbness in my left arm for several weeks now, and even though I have cut back on my caffeine consumption and am trying to get good nutrition and enough water, I feel like it's getting worse. I checked my resting heart rate several times in class yesterday and it was around 88-90, which isn't emergency level but it's not normal for someone as young as me, who makes an effort to eat a relatively healthy, varied diet and be somewhat active. I used to go on a three mile run three or four times a week, and currently I feel the same as I did right after a three mile run, about half the time, even sitting in the car. It's getting pretty scary for me.
But I don't want to wait a week for a visit with a doctor who isn't going to listen to or understand my problem. I'm trying to find a good one online and by asking around, but it's a lot more challenging to find that information than I thought. I know that most of the doctors' offices in this region, and the three hospitals associated with the one I owe money to, are simply not that competent. I know of FAR too many stories of woeful misdiagnoses that resulted in extreme pain, near death, or death itself. I have insurance now, but it's pretty limited, and I just can't waste money on a doctor who isn't going to take me seriously. I know DU doesn't allow medical advice...I'm not looking for that, I need to see a doctor. I just want advice on finding a good one.
