I just had surgery today
I went in today for a same-day operation on my left foot. I had a fasciotomy to get a heel spur removed. It was a good thing my former roommate's boyfriend used to be a paratransit driver; he picked me up and brought me to my ex-roomie's house--at least she has an internet connection so I can post this.

I'm not allowed to do any lifting--not even picking up my cats while I'm on my feet. In 2 weeks, I have to go to the podiatrist for a follow-up to check on the progress. Meanwhile, I'm a bit woozy from the pain pills I have to take.

2. Take it easy on the pain pills...
I had foot surgery last fall and took my oxycontin-based pain pills religiously as I was instructed to by the nurses until I got really woozy and puked my guts out. I found that Advil Liquigels were just as effective and they didn't make me sick. I had a hammer toe fixed...I have no idea whether recovery from that is more/less paintful than your fasciotomy....but I felt that anything...even some foot pain, was better than nausea and puking. Good luck, I wish you a speedy and a pain and nausea-free recovery.

3. Take care.
Go easy on your stomach at first, but make sure to get enough Zinc, Vit C, and calcium. Drink plenty of water.

5. Hope you have someone to help you around the house
Can you lift juice bottles and other things that weigh a few pounds? They weigh less than a cat but are the types of things you lift in an ordinary day.
