1. I'm probably going to get flamed, but BFD.
And I'm not a non-fan, either.
I GREW UP with Trek, starting in 1966.

But this is revisionist crap.
Good acting maybe.
Good effects, of course.

But just imagine someone doing a prequel to all the Bond movies where Bond as a teenager hated girls and cried a lot.

4. the only thing that looks bad is the cartoony villain. they did a lot with time travel
messing up the past including FIRST CONTACT, one of the better TREK movies.

5. Well, let's get flamed together. I'll bring the marshmallows.
I grew up with TOS and TNG. The tone set in the movie is a little lopsided to begin with, and "revisionist" is too right a term to use.

The f/x look like another hollywood video game. The best trek featured few ships with real tension and suspense. Not an ADHD actionfest.

BTW: "James Bond Jr" was a short-lived cartoon made in the late-1980s...

9. I'm kicking this because I nearly squealed in delight when I saw this a little while ago.
The only thing I'm hearing about this movie so far from the Intertubes is that this is going to be an utterly amazing movie - not just in terms of special effects or action or anything like that - but that it's just an excellent movie.

I'm planning on going to a midnight screening with some good Trekkie friends and we're gonna nerd it up allll night.

10. All you haters just keep on hatin'
I was raised on The Original Series too. I still have my NCC-1701 blueprints and my Mego action figures of Kirk and the crew. And I plan to be first in line to see this.

12. Hell I am going to travel to see it in IMAX
Our lame ass IMAX here doesn't show Hollywood movies, and they wonder why the city is going to close it in 2010. Seeing as just showing movies like the Dark Knight would have saved it. People would stand in line to see those movies there.
