Let's draw the line at for formal musical training at the ability to read sheet music and an understanding of music theory.

1. Probably most.
Though you don't really need to read music in order to understand music theory.

2. McCartney doesn't read music, so I guess the Beatles and Wings would be there.
I personally think that musical training CAN (not necessarily does) kill a person's creative instinct. Music can be an enterprise of technical precision and theory, or a passionate artistic expression, and the latter is most appealing to the masses, so bands that are the most raw often have the widest appeal, whereas bands that are highly technical and sophisticated musically take more education to appreciate, so are less appealing to the masses, even if it has passion.

Of course, there are many who master both aspects, and use each to enhance the other.

And there are those, like the Beatles, who just see things that others don't, training be damned.
