Aside from corporate greed...
Is there any reason why we don't have full a la carte selection when it comes to our cable/satellite channel lineup? Why, for instance, must I pay for 65 Classic Golf channels just so that I can get Noggin to let my kids watch Blue's Clues?

1. Um, there is no "aside from" in what you're proposing.

2. Sadly, that was my suspicion
When I asked Comcast about it, they said something about "the technology's not yet workable," which I immediately recognized as complete bullshit.

3. Well you know that if they eventuallly do offer a la carte service,
they'll soak us for each station, add fees for the "convenience," and we'll somehow end up paying even more.

6. True enough
I'm going to build my time machine, go back into the past, and prevent Comcast's parents from ever meeting.

4. we should have free cable access to the government channels
It really pisses me off how much I would have to pay to get the 3 C-Span channels.

5. Yeah--WTF is that about?
We used to have CSPAN1 and 2 on basic cable, until they moved 2 up to channel 184. When I called to complain, they said it was to "free up bandwidth." Well, its former channel slot is still empty, as are a few others that they elevated to the higher price-range.

10. I exaggerate. It's actually closer to 53.
Most of the rest of the dial is taken up by those "Watching Paint Dry" stations. Honestly, I just can't choose, some days.

9. you'll be able to get what you want via the Internet before too long...
thankfully. Wipe those greedy corporate cable f*ckers off the map for TV; just use them for Internet access (though they'll probably come up with some stupid reason that they have to charge more to deliver TV).

I HATE it that I have to pay for tons of crap just to be able to get MSNBC and Bravo. Bravo's hardly worth it anymore, either. None of them are, to be honest.
