3. Write a review on Citysearch.
There is no cost to join and you can also see if other people have reviewed the business.

5. There is a RipOFF site for true ripoffs!
If you don't get your McNuggets, call 911, of course.

6. DU is a pretty good place.
We have discredited Olive Garden and Best Buy at least.

7. Unfortunately the only places where that happened were with really BIG businesses,
so they had their fair share of people complaining... but they also had a monopoly so there wasn't much that could be done about it.

8. I ordered some material from a company online. I sent them the money. I called them
once to say "hey where is my stuff". Never called them again or heard from them. Don't care. If that is how they want to do business I wish them good luck with that. They'll never get repeat customers.

10. Depends on how bad the wrong was and the situation.
If I was really upset about the company I would highly consider registering <company-name>sucks.com or some variant thereof, and throwing up a quick site detailing this company's bad practices. I'd do that if I had a good collection of examples and not just me ranting and raving though. Get enough people to link to it, keep it up long enough, get Google have a look at it. If done right, not before long people google that business and get your site, not theirs - if not #1 certainly #2.

Otherwise I'd go the normal route: complain within the company as high as I can, the further up I go the more noise I make and the more demands I place for things to be "put right". Once I exhausted those avenues then I consider going public. If I have a legal remedy then consult a lawyer. If I have no legal remedy then public complaints may be good enough to garner the negative publicity required.

Mark.
