Ian Curtis does not look like the voice that comes out of him
Just sayin'

It seriously sounds like someone else is singing...

1. Joy Division's entire musical output sounds otherworldly
Which is part of the allure, I think. And I loved it when Curtis went all Frank Sinatra on "Atmosphere"...

2. He actually listened to a Frank Sinatra record the night before...
he did the vocal on "Love Will Tear Us Apart".

3. I did not know that!
I thought he was really growing as a singer right before his suicide; the whole second side of Closer he sounded amazing..

4. He was possessed by the demons
As Nina Hagen might say

A short blindingly intense life still remembered thirty years later

5. A voice channeled from somewhere else...
I've gotten through a lot of rough spots in life thanks to that man...
RIP, Ian.

7. And that somewhere else would be Iggy Pop's "The Idiot"...
but there's nothing wrong with that

6. True; he looked like a pasty little office clerk named "Ian"...
but, then again, so did Ian Brady.

8. Have you seen Control?
Sam Wiley does an outstanding job as Curtis. It's amazing.

10. Friends of mine did a Spooffest appearance as Joy Division
The keyboardist explained why they were in button down shirts and ties by saying that Joy Division always looked like they'd just came from their day job.

The fake lead singer had the voice down pretty well. He did alot of odd dancing as he sang, which I found out from You Tube was pretty accurate. He also pretended to have an epileptic fit, and kept commenting about how his neck hurt. I didn't get the "joke" until I went home and read up on Ian Curtis. Poor guy. Nowadays I bet he'd have had a better time of it, I think. I assume we have better epilepsy drugs now.
