I sleep on the couch, and he loves my space no matter where I go. Even follows me to the biffy, then he steals me spot before I get back! So we share, and snuggle. And he must "guard" me when I take a bath.

He has totally destroyed the pillows and blankets again. They are everywhere! And he is blissfully camped out and sleeping on the couch now. I'm sure glad his happy ass is content right now. But I get tired of cleaning up this mess!

I think he is terribly spoiled. :eyes:

1. He does sound spoiled...
You have to catch him in the act. And then use a spray water bottle, or something that he hates, to scare him.

He needs to have a healthy respect for you.

Is he a puppy? Even if he is, it's time to teach him who's the boss: YOU.

Good luck!

:hi:

2. He's getting up in years, but THINKS he's still a pup.
He just loves my space, cause he loves me, but this is getting irritating. *grumble*

3. I don't doubt he's spoiled.
And I mean that in a good way. :-) I've got a girl here that is utterly spoiled too.

Maybe he's just burning off energy. Does he get to run outside? A few years ago I was often out of the house for 16 hours at a time and I could pretty much count on Rosie having gotten restless in the house while I was gone. I never blamed her for that though, the fault was mine. She just needed to be outside running around.

Mine is getting up in years too. It's sad. She no longer really has the ability to be bad. I'm afraid this will be our last year together. She's 20 years old which is ancient for a big dog.

"I'm sure glad his happy ass is content right now" I'll bet it is.

6. He is spoiled! He's also a good pup and has always been a very good companion.
He's very freindly and harmless. I've often joked that he is so friendly that I'd have to throw him at a burgler if I were in such danger.

But there have been a few occaisions when he felt I was being threatened. He was all over me like flies on shit. I had a contractor once who was the most loud and obnoxious asshole I've ever met. My pooch jumped in my lap and started growling. I had to hold my dog back, and told the guy he'd better leave and not come back.

My pooch has a big yard and lots of space to run. He also adopts everyone who walks by. He thinks they come by just to see him. :eyes:

4. That brings to mind the time a litter of husky puppies...
(there were five of them, each was five months old and weighed ~100 pounds) ate a couch at our remote site in Alaska. They were spoiled. Our Major was not amused.

8. Yes'm, the Major was a great guy...
(for an officer) but he put a limit on the number of dogs he'd allow on the site. I sent one home and he later became one of the best dogs I've ever owned.

9. I think you need the dog whisperer
something about not being the pack leader, I reckon.

We had a beagle mix when I was a kid who would punish us for leaving the house. He shredded any paper he could get his hands on while we were gone. So my mom started putting him in the bathroom. That didn't last too long. He climbed up on the toilet, then to the sink, where he somehow got the stopper down and turned on the water. There was water all the way down the hallway from the bathroom heading for the dining room when my sister got home from school.

He spent most of his time in the utility room after that. He hated it, but he sort of asked for it.

10. LOL! I am amazed that they can figure out how to turn on the sink!
My dog punishes me when both my mother and I leave the house without him. He trashes all the waste baskets. We keep the main garbage can on top of a coffee table so he can't reach it. He's a little poop!

11. He just stole half my dinner. Beatings will ensue until morale improves.
He's camping in the bathroom, cause he knows I'm pissed. Grrrrrr!
