Christian Bale Replaced in "The Dark Knight" Sequel?
Australian paper The Herald Sun is reporting the craziest Batman rumor and we already heard that Eddie Murphy is in talks to star as The Riddler. Yes, it's crazier than that.

According to the paper, Australian actor Sam Worthington, who will next appear in "Terminator Salvation" and then James Cameron's "Avatar," could possibly end up replacing Christian Bale in "The Dark Knight" sequel. The Herald Sun is not saying why Bale would be replaced, but they assume that it has something to do with his recent outburst on the set of "Terminator Salvation."

Nolan and Bale are the two big driving forces behind this new Batman franchise, making sure that their vision is not destroyed by a "Justice League of America" movie or with the addition of other superheroes like Superman. But apparently Nolan has no problem replacing the lead actor.

wow, I think that would be a stupid move. I hate to think that this franchise will go the same route as the previous series with different actors playing the same characters.

5. hopefully, lol
I sure as hell didn't believe the Eddie Murphy as the Riddler rumors, I'm hoping these rumors are just as crazy. IMDB already has a page up for the sequal, so we should know soon.

2. I don't think he brought anything to the franchise.
He's a good actor otherwise, but that role could have been played by many other people. Two-Face and Joker, on the other hand, were perfectly cast.

11. i found him to be just flat, kind of blah and phoning it in.
He was fantastic in American Psycho and i really liked the remake of 3:10 to Yuma, i thought that was a good role for him.

14. I think the best Batmans are the ones who don't look the type.

Christian Bale looks like a real-life Bruce Wayne while Michael Keaton does not, but Keaton was the best in the role. Though I think TDK was the best overall.

19. That really wasn't his fault. Directoral choice there.
Batman is supposed to have a somewhat gravelly voice to hide his own and to help inspire fear... but the director digitally altered it and made it WAY too gravelly.

20. oh wow, I didn't know it was digitally altered
thought maybe they had him scream his head off before takes, lol and then pinch his nose to make it sound like it was stuffy.

21. No, but that's pretty much what Matthew Lillard did in the live-action Scooby Doo movies.

17. And yet, natural law requires that the third movie suck, anyway.
Were I Bale, I would demand a big pile of cash to appear in a movie destined from its conception for stank.

12. I thought Batman Begins was overrated.
Part of which had to do with him, though I agree with you about TDK.

13. I agree
I thought Batman Begins was overrated, and while TDK was great it wasn't mainly because of him.

23. Eddie Murphy? Really?
Blech.

Doesn't matter who dons the cowl. This franchise is OVER if that Murphy rumor is true.
