11. I love fruits in salad. Yum. Grapes or pears with a nice cheese.
Strawberries only work if they're really good, fresh and sweet. .... Apples, YUM! The only thing I don't like is canned mandarin oranges - or any canned fruit in a salad.
cranberries, dried fruits, figs, mango, ... all have their place in a salad.

I really think you're missing out, but then there's more for me!

13. Fruit does. Animals don't. Why is it so hard to order a salad that's really a salad these days?
You go into a restaurant thinking "Well, at least I can order some iceberg lettuce and a few carrot scrapings," and you discover that even their salads have chicken or beef. And when you order a salad without meat, you get a salad that still has the little flesh stains on the leaves from where they ordered the pot scrubber to pick the flesh out of it.

Salads should be salads. Put the offal on some bread and call it a sandwhich, for cryin' out loud.

That is all. :P

It has feta and walnuts. It is covered with a strawberry vinaigrette. Why do that to the strawberry? I do like feta though!

34. One of the best salads I had in my life was in a restaurant in London:
Grilled chicken, golden raisins, and pine nuts on a bed of greens with a lemon-and-olive oil dressing.

I liked it so much that I worked to reproduce the lemon dressing at home. It is now my contribution of choice for summer potlucks.

43. The tomato is a fruit. Don't like tomatoes in your salad?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato

Botanically, a tomato is the ovary, together with its seeds, of a flowering plant: therefore it is a fruit or, more precisely, a berry. However, the tomato is not as sweet as those foodstuffs usually called fruits and, from a culinary standpoint, it is typically served as part of a salad or main course of a meal, as are vegetables, rather than at dessert in the case of most fruits. As noted above, the term vegetable has no botanical meaning and is purely a culinary term.

So there!
