Submitting a Resume
I'm submitting a resume to a company that requires a cover letter and salary history. I'm okay on the letter, but what do I do for a salary history? I was at my previous job for nine years, and I know my starting and my ending salary, but I have no idea of the specific history of raises. Likewise, do I need to dredge up paystubs from the hobby store where I worked a decade ago?

How much history (and how much detail) is required for a salary history?

1. I don't think you have to be that specific.
Starting and ending salaries are usually good enough. And I wouldn't worry so much about salary in an unrelated job, thats kind of pointless, IMHO.

2. If I tell them that I made a million per month, do you think they'll check?
Thanks for the input. I'll go with starting/ending salary at the previous job.

3. I've always tried to finesse that issue by saying my salary requirements are "negotiable."
They want you to show your cards first, as a way to weed you out.

It sucks. But if they just insist on it, I'd give as little info as possible, maybe what you started at and what you're making now (although it kills me to do even that).

Looking for a job sucks out loud.

of course, my job search has been a disaster for years now, so you may not want to listen to me...
