Here is how cool ElderGreenKid is...
He just came up to me and asked, "Mom, do you think we could get a periodic table of elements I can put up in the bedroom?"

And a couple of weeks ago I found him transcribing a theory he had developed about stars. Had some sort of formula in it that he'd come up with to support his musings, but he wouldn't explain it to me because he was feeling too shy about it. All I know is that it was scribbled on a piece of scrap paper and had little arrows all over the place to show what came after what. I couldn't even begin to untangle it in the brief time that I saw it.

And yesterday, he told me that he was doing very well in school, and that he knows pretty much everything he is being taught because of "Dad, you, and all the learning shows you make us watch."

*tickled pink*

2. Thanks! :^) He has a slew of family members who are educators so
he and his brother can't escape learning outside of school. LOL

4. Amen! I've been telling him since he was a tot that I want him to invent
all the cool stuff we see on Star trek. He wants to start with the warp drive but I requested cold fusion and replicators first. :P

a couple exclaims over sighting a pair of nerds and their little nerdlings. That is so our family. :P

10. LOL Well, I'm not sure he quite qualifies as that, but he is certainly very bright. He's
been studying space and now the elements in school (5th gr) and he likes to do some extra research on his own. He uses wikipedia and we TiVo shows in the fields of study his class is covering. :)

17. Thanks. We try to supplement the education he is getting through school. I don't
always go with the topics he is studying at the moment, but lately we have been doing more of that at his request.

18. That's great!
Here are 3 interactive Periodic Tables if you're interested. I ran into them on my travels through the intertubes. The 3rd one is neat because it displays a use for each element.
