Ever bid on something on ebay and worry that you will win?
Man, I had a bout of drunken GAS (Gear( or Guitar) Acquisition Syndrome) a couple days ago
and put myself on the hook for 3 grand.

Now this item goes for more than that, regularly: But what if? If I win, do I wait out this depression and sell it?

It's so pretty, do I mount it on my wall? Do I dare play it, I do have other guitars.

I want it, and I don't want it. I now know what it means to be ambivalent.

I won't win. But I might. I might bid more. But no!

Aaaargh.

7. I can't even remember.
Some stupid little trinket or bobble. I just remember the feeling of "What the fuck am I doing? Impulse control? Not!"

10. One time I bid on an
Indigo Girls sweatshirt, black with a very nice fish logo in a very nice place. I bid way too much, but I eventually won the bid and won the shirt.

4. My one friend's brother just won a bid on a commercial mower.
He got a decent deal on it, but the damn thing is out in the middle of Long Island.
Thing weighs as much as a small car, and freight rates to truck it out of there will add a considerable amount onto the total price.

He's going to get it himself.

6. The only time I overbid on something it was an accident when I put a decimal in the wrong place.
I'm a cheap bastard. :)

9. Actually I cancelled the bid. The seller understood so he didn't give me a bad review or anything.
I think it was a 5 dollar thing transposed to 50.

14. All the time..it's a dilemma for me
I really want a Honda Gold Wing...more comfort for two - up touring (and I like to take LONG trips). It's a less expensive indulgence than, say, a sports car.

However, I have a lot of guilt over buying one. It seems inappropriate given what's going on economically and how much people are suffering.

Then again, until a couple of months ago, I thought I had 12 - 20 months to live, so part of me says "what the f&^%."

I'll get it sorted out eventually.

17. I've ridden for many years....
But I have a motorcycle (that I love) already....it would be an indulgence.

15. I impulse bid on cars now and then. Won them twice. Well, three times, but once I wanted it.
I bought a Prius on Ebay, but I wanted that. I bid on an 83 Mercedes diesel once, wanting to experiment with making biodiesel. Had to buy it. It was a good car for a couple of years, and I sold it for just short of what I paid. Another time I bid on a custom van--an old one--and won it. Thing is, I was looking out for one for my parents, but didn't confirm with them before bidding. They loved it, so I paid for half of it for them.

I've never been stuck with a bad purchase, aside from little stuff, but yeah, I've hoped to lose a couple of things I've bid on. :)

18. once on some woofers
high end woofers that would have been out of place on my medium quality stereo.

Didn't win them thankfully...they were WAY more than I needed to spend

21. Wife had bid on two of the same item, hoping to win one and be outbid on the other.
Regrettably she won both of them.

We now have two Slackers.

Mark.
