HELP!!! My house is being stalked by a cat
I can NOT bring another cat into the house and damnit - that cat is driving my cats bonkers. Last night Abbott was howling like a banshee, poor thing (at one point I thought someone was breaking into my house).

Is there anything I can do and no, adopting is NOT an option. I already have one miserable, unhappy feral cat living with me (Evita)

1. Find a no-kill rescue shelter and bring the kitty in?
Assuming of course you can figure out if this cat belongs to anyone...

21. that is a good point
hehe

i gave my mom a cat a while back, and she had been feeding a few strays in the backyard for a long time.

the new cat and the feral cats couldn't get along, so my mom had my dad trap all the feral cats and take them to a shelter.

turns out one of the cats belonged to a guy a few houses down. after a few days he canvassed the neighborhood trying to find his cat. he came to my parent's house and after receiving a description of his cat, my mom told the guy they took it to the animal shelter. the guy was beside himself and went to the shelter. they made the guy pay $100 to get his cat back. (i thought that was wrong, cause he could describe it in detail)

anyways, long story short, make sure the cats you are trapping are really strays

:D

2. The cat is planning on moving in
Don't bother trying to say no, it never works.

3. Sorry but I have to say "NO" to this one
Two is a good number for cats. Three officially makes me the "Crazy Cat Lady" because that means I'll let anyone just move into my home.

5. We're adding a third
But it's not a new cat. It's one of LostinVA's cats that stayed behind in VA.

My mom had three cats for a long time. She's fucking nuts but she's not a crazy cat lady. The crazy cat lady is her sister. She has like 10 in her tiny apt.

13. You are already Crazy Cat Lady and it has nothing to do with
the number of cats you own. It has to do with you being crazy.

17. Three cats does NOT qualify one as a Crazy Cat Lady.
I have three and I'm not there yet. You don't qualify until you have enough cats that no matter where you look, you see at least one.

6. Arrggh! We are still being stalked as well!
the little guy we've named "Sammy" still wants to live with us, and we're not supposed to have the cat we already have.

8. Good luck getting rid of it if it wants to stay. A similar thing happened to a friend
The little cat wanted to move in, they already had two cats, and couldn't take it (or so they thought). They fed it and put an ad in the paper and found a very good home for it, six miles away.

The cat didn't like the new home. She just wanted to live at the original place and that was that. She returned on her own a couple of weeks later, bedraggled and thin, but fine.

I'm guessing they probably shouldn't have named her Cuddles the first time around. The cat probably figured out they couldn't hold out against her charms forever.

9. Put one of your TV's out in the yard and play that cat video you
thought was so funny the other day. No living thing will get anywhere near your house ever again. :scared:

12. If you heard my Abbott hissing - he rivaled the cat from that Video
He barely tolerates having to share me with Evita (my other cat) and I don't think he'd be happy with a 3rd

11. Well, can you have the cat examined by a vet?
Maybe get him/her neutered/spayed, shots, etc., and just let the cat live outside, and put food out every once in a while? We have a few hangers-on here and if I can catch them I try to get them 'fixed' and basic shots.

Is there a way to put some unobtrusive shelter out for the cat? We have six cats (argh) and run a bit of a halfway house for some ferals. If I can catch them, I get them fixed with shots (lots of places will help subsidize this expense, too, just to keep the stray cat population down) and just then make sure there is a place for them to sleep at night / stay warm if they want to, and food. But I only put food out once a day (preferably if there is a time they regularly show up so possums and other critters don't get the food); if the cats don't show, they need to eat elsewhere. So I'm (hopefully) not creating too much dependency, but helping the cats out as I can.

Is that possible where you live?

16. how do you get yourself stalked?
Heck, if we got stalked, maybe we'd get a cat...but it never happens to us, and I'd love to have a cat again.

I'm sure my wife couldn't turn down a cat who wanted/needed to move in...

Our stalker, who told me last night that he LOVES the St Louis area, and is just WAITING for someone who wantsa cat in their lives to come get him:
