how did you take a picture in which each individual hair stands out on Mo's lovely tummy? I can't describe how it would come out if I had shot that, but it wouldn't look like that. It must be the lighting, no? How did you light this?

one flash high and behind the cat (on the top of the sofa, actually) with a reflector just out of the frame to her head end

the reflector bounces light back under the shadows, giving it that 3d effect.
