Today should have been an exciting, fantastic day--my first trip to DC in almost eight years, staying at the Hyatt, good theatre and good friends. Instead, it's going to be a nightmare. I finally caught the stomach virus that everyone else had last week, and I've spent most of the past 24 hours either in bed, or in the bathroom. I'm exhausted, I'm sick, and now I have to get into a van with ten other students in about two hours and go to DC, where I will be away from a handy bathroom for a large chunk of the afternoon and evening, and forced to walk at least a couple of miles in dress shoes when I can barely stand up barefoot for more than five minutes. :(

Keep me in your thoughts. If I had any way to get out of this, I would, but it is a "required" trip--if I don't go, I fail the class. I just hope I don't end up making everyone else sick, too.

1. Oh man I'm sorry to hear about this.

Make sure you wash your hands alot..that way the chances of you infecting everyone will be less. Drink ALOT of water though and stay hydrated..:hug:

I'm pretty much mainlining lemon Gatorade and OJ at this point, because I have kidney problems, which means I go hypokalemic at the drop of a hat. I have to be really careful about illnesses like this.

And yeah, I'm not only washing my hands--I'm rinsing them with mild bleach solution. Norovirus doesn't have the same lipid envelope that many other viruses have, so it isn't as susceptible to alcohol disinfectant as other viruses are. Bleach is the only reliable way of killing it that I have. My hands hate me, but irritated hands are better than being the Typhoid Mary of the school trip.

just remember, try not to eat anything (except dry toast) and hopefully it runs its course before the trip to the theatre.
