The Weekly MLB Spring Training Check-In Thread.
My Phils are at an embarrassing 5-9 right now. I know that it's "only" Spring Training, but....STILL. *sigh*

How is your favorite team doing?

1. Orioles are 7-6. By the way, BB, I am seeing the Phillies tommorow.
My dad's friend, a Phillies fan, got tickets to the Phillies-Astros game in Kissimmee tommorow and invited us to go. While I'm neither a Phillies or Astros fan, baseball is baseball so I'm looking forward to it.

Was all set to see the Orioles play the Cardinals today until a $%@%$$%$ appointment came up for me at 1:00 pm.

4. Oh, man! That sounds like fun!
Since you're not a fan of either, can you root for my Phils? God knows they need SOMETHING!

Enjoy the game! :hi:

5. Did you catch Papelbon's comment about Manny?
"Manny was a cancer" to the team.

I couldn't agree more - he's the T.O. of the MLB.

27. I did, and he's right.
Manny's a great hitter, but he's not worth the trouble.

3. yeah, but Ryan Howard has got what? 5-6 HRs already?

8. Yeah, he's on a roll - which scares the hell outta me, to be honest.
He's the poster child for the slump; so for him to be out there right now, guns blazing, is almost a guarantee that he'll fall into a slump when his HRs are needed the most.

Maybe the obscene contract he just signed will change things, but I doubt it.

6. Some consolation...
in every sport they say the pre-season doesn't really count...but it's especially true for baseball.

As often as not, playoff-teams have sub-.500 Spring Training records. Just as frequently, the team with the best ST record finishes the regular season below .500. There is less of a correlation between pre-season success and regular-season success in baseball than in any other major sport.

I just really love baseball - and being that my team won the WS, I guess I expect more. Or something. Or I'm just an addict. :D

a bunch of your Phils are playing for Team USA in the WBC..I was thinking about you cause they were talking about how Jimmy Rollins and David Wright of the Mets were trying to get along for the sake of team unity, figured you'd LOVE that..:P.. BTW, the Nationals newest acquisition, Adam Dunn is doing quite well for Team USA...

12. LOL!
Yeah - I've been following that. Adam Dunn looks really good. And the thought of the Mets and the Phils standing together signifying solidarity is the biggest crock of shit EVAH!

This looks rough. I am predicting my Bravos win at most 90 games. If we are lucky.

to see the dynamic between Pinella, Zambrano, and Bradley. Alot of tempers and over-inflated egos for just one team.

14. My beloved Twins have stumbled 4 times while celebrating victory 8.
Worrisome, however, is the condition of Joe Mauer's back. :scared: I hope he heals up soon and is ready to play ball!

Hopefully, it's just a temporary thing - and that he'll be back in shape for the regular season. :)
