Ron Silver dead at 62
Succumbed to cancer, on the Ides of March.

I know he went off the deep end a few years back, but he was fantastic as Alan Dershowitz in Reversal of Fortune. Hate to see cancer taking so many people.

March 15, 2009

Actor and longtime political activist Ron Silver died this morning, succumbing to a long battle with cancer, friends of the liberal Democrat-turned-GOP stalwart told The Post.

"Ron Silver died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him this morning," said Robin Bronk, executive director of the Creative Coalition, which Silver helped create.

11. Campaign advisor Bruno Gianelli
He advised Bartlet in his re-election campaign and then switched to the Republican candidate, Arnie Vinnick in the election portrayed in the show's final season. Kind of mirroring Silver's own switch from Democrat to Republican.

7. He was good for Equity, regardless of his recent insane-ness.
He was my dad's age. That's simply too young.

Sad.

9. I loved "Reversal of Fortune".
Ron, Jeremy Irons and Glenn Close were all great. I followed that case pretty intensely, although I was pretty young at the time. My sister lived in Newport when it was going on, and I read Sunny von Bulow died a few months ago, after spending over 20 years on life support.

RIP Ron
