Little Debbie snack cakes, a staple at the Midlo house for literally decades, has raised their prices...are you ready? 50% ??? :wtf:

Literally. A box of cosmic brownies that used to be $1.09 is now $1.59 and the Dollar Tree no longer carries them.

For some reason Jim Webb and Mark Warner refuse to get involved. I'm rethinking my votes for them.

3. Have you noticed, too?
Because I swear to you, the prices at Food Lion have absolutely skyrocketed since gas prices went up and they haven't gone down a bit.

I mean, the big Goldfish box? $8.69??? SEriously. That's $3 more than I paid last year. (BabyM likes them)

And rd jr. is not happy with me at all, but I REFUSE to pay FIVE freakin' bucks for a bag of double stuff Oreos! If they aren't on sale, he goes without!

12. Since the gas price debacle, I've been baking cookies and brownies
to put in their lunches. BabyM bakes too, but that's a PITA sometimes. I like to give them a salt, a sweet, a yogurt and fruit along with a sandwich. Salt is no problem, they love those veggie sticks you get at Costco, but the cookies? My goodness. I used to go to the grocery store adn not even think twice about a package of frickin' cookies. Now it is absolutely ridiculous.

13. I should try to bake more often
Jr. and hubby prefer that anyway. I just can't find enough extra time in my days lately. Jr. is in the dairy and livestock 4-H clubs and since he's a member of a club that's in Orange County (near Culpeper and Madison) 'cause that's where the family dairy farm is, I spend my afternoons hauling him up and down the road. I'm not complaining, 'cause I told him I'd so whatever it took for him to participate in 4-H. I just gave up a lot of that "extra" time between the end of the school day and bedtime.

15. I hear ya. Truth to tell BabyM does a lot of baking.
She loves to do it. She's taking a real interest in cooking, so we're going to try to take some Kid Cuisine classes here at Sur La Table.

Just got an Aerogarden to grow fresh herbs indoors at Target for $100 yesterday. The same unit at Sur La Table is $199. Love cooking with fresh herbs, but it's hard to find them sometimes and they are really expensive.

18. That sounds neat!
Jr. likes to cook and bake now that he's had FACS and teen living in school. Matter of fact, he pretty much took over the kitchen duties for about 3 weeks after my surgery the end of Nov. I just wish he'd enjoy cleaning up as much as makin' the mess.

4. Don't care. As long as the Midlets lunches are comprised
of all things individually wrapped, I'm good.

5. Do they have a Little Debbie aisle at your local grocer?
They have one at the store in Turners Falls. That place is like Hazzard County.

PS: New Dave.

6. Not an aisle, just an end cap.
Heading over to blogspot now. Call me tomorrow. I've got a dental appointment, but no conference calls, (unlike today). I would love to shoot the person who invented those. What a colossal waste of time.

8. We're talking strictly economics here. Not quality.
If you start 'em early enough on Little Debbie, they won't expect the good stuff.
