Do bad posters drive good posters out of circulation?

Similar to the way "bad money drives good money out of circulation." (Gresham's Law)

4. Gonna need you to define what makes a poster "good" or "bad"

9. I was actually thinking about asking that question

11. Bad= trolls, whackjobs, people starting dumb threads, making bigoted remarks, etc.
Good = well thought out responses. or at least non-inflammatory, non-whackjob.

I've noticed lots more morans here lately. Oh, morans are bad posters too.

7. The plethora of Winger and Ratt posters in the 80s pretty much proves it, doesn't it?
Seriously, look at the history of posters, starting with the 20s. The 20s, posters were high art, worthy of being posting in museums. The 30s were also good, supported by FDRs public art, but NOT as good as the 30s. In the 40s, the war, while producing some good posterage, also helped reduce the artistic quality, and the 50s was even more worse. The 60s was a rare uptick in quality posters, but it has been all downhill ever since.

So yes, bad posters do drive out good posters.

10. Yes
The short answer is yes.

Place is full of trolls now. Can't even look outside the Lounge or GLBT without meeting up with a fucking Pat Robertson/Dobson/Santorum/Warren apologist. And I'm not talking about one thread either. I'm talking about a right wing slanted trend here. And fucking no, rape jokes, anti-gay jokes, and anti-women jokes are NOT funny.

I'm talking the place is overrun with right wing nutbags and soon to be right wing nutbags nowadays.

Place at the table, my ass. Right wing fundy religious groups have had the fucking goddamn HELM of the table for the last 30 fucking years. I DO wish people would quit acting like they've been so deprived of opportunities to completely fucking control this country. We are no different than fucking Saudi Arabia, Iraq, or Afghanistan or any of those other uber zealous fundy so-called Muslim countries that hang people just for being gay. This country is headed down a shitty path and there is no end in sight. I may make a shit list and when that person breathes one word about any of the Muslim countries being so overly religious, point out that they are fine and dandy with giving fucking right wing nutbags here in America anything and everything they want. Same damn thing!

I'm sick to death of people acting like the right wing nutbags haven't had enough control over the last 30 fucking years. They have had ALL the control. That's the problem and some people still don't see it yet. And I really do mean it when I say I'd rather die and go straight to hell than live one more minute on this God forsaken planet with right wing fundy nutbags. Anything to get the hell away from them.

I could rant all goddamn day, but instead, I'm going to check my cornbread and watch for signs it's ready to dip in my vegetable beef soup. I've never made corn bread from scratch before. So far, it really looks like cornbread.

Yes, bad posters run good posters off. Bad posters have taken over the joint. I miss so many good posters who cannot stomach the place any more.

13. I think the high volume posters drive good posters out of circulation
I wish there were a software program that could separate the wheat from the chaff in this place.

Sometimes finding something worthwhile is like finding the proverbial needle in a haystack.

what other cliched metaphor can I use?

15. There's always ignore, if you can identify a poster who rarely posts anything of interest
to you, and buddy lists for those that do.

However, a filter that highlights threads based on your personal interests would be cool (advertisers do it with pop-ups, right?) along with a context-based spellcheck like someone suggested the other day...
