Yes, I'm at a coffee shop again.

Fucking hell.

We have nice heavy tables here. Too bad he doesn't beat his head with them.

Just imagine any 22-year old who thinks he knows everything, add to that a profound Jesus Crispiness Uber Evengelical theological outlook, and then amplify it with that kind of arrogant fuckery that, sadly, only artists seem to acquire, and toss in the sort of profound lack of tact and inability to understand that he might be wrong on occasion - and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's so sad when young people, who are bright and good people, getting sucked into the bullshittery that is the evangelical, hate-based, brain-fearing part of Christianity. So much energy, and it gets focused on such that's so empty and wrong and without any depth.

Like if Orson Welles had decided to just do B movies, or Robert Fripp had been content with I-IV-V, or Michelangelo had said, "Ah, nothing like an all-blue ceiling!"

Jackass.

2. Billy Corgan is a lot older than 22
Despite what he's been telling Rolling Stone.

3. Hold on ...........
I'm an artist, and I honestly don't believe that "arrogant fuckery" is part of my work. I die with every effort, as do so many others in my field.

You may be confusing this asstard's demeanor with the fact that he's simply an asstard?

6. I didn't say all artists have arrogant fuckery.
I said "that kind of arrogant fuckery that, sadly, only artists seem to acquire".

I'm talking about a specific kind of arrogant fuckery. I'm not talking about artists.

And as an artist - which I am as well - you should very well understand that there is a king arrogant fuckery - a real obnoxious, deadening, awful kind of arrogant fuckery - that is unique to artists.

19. That's a very different kind of arrogant fuckery.
I'm talking specifically about that artist's kind of arrogant fuckery.

9. No, sorry ..........
I honestly don't know what you're taking about. In my work - writing, which necessarily involved the hard world of big publishing - we have our share of assholes, and I'm sure I'm one of them now and then, but a common, distinctive trait among them?

No, sorry, but I don't get it.

15. Writers are a different breed of artist - take them out of the soup
Edited on Tue Mar-17-09 07:24 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I don't know any writers who fit the asshole fuckery I'm talking about, except maybe some bloggers and podcasters who broadcast from their dormrooms, thinking they're doing real cutting edge shit, and New Yorker movie reviewers, and the jackasses at GQ and Vanity Fair and Harpers.

Some of them are obnoxious, or weird. But not in that obnoxious way that other artists can get. Writers, when jerks, tend to be more the quiet but angry/mean alcoholic kind of jerkishness.

13. I don’t believe I can express it as well, but I know about arrogant artists.
My belief is that it comes from the credence that one is more of an individual(unique)than non-artists.

5. Good musicians are generally pretty humble about it.
If they have a big ego, they are probably good musicians who got successful and turned into jerks.

That is all.

10. So what is this Jesus-whacker musician actually doing in the coffee shop?
Edited on Tue Mar-17-09 06:32 PM by The Velveteen Ocelot
Singing hymns, or Christian "rock" (:puke:), or Bach's B Minor Mass? Or just emanating an air of smug Christo-zombie assbaggery as he strums his zither?

16. your last sentence is precisely it - except no zither.
Mostly just talk, though he grabbed someone's guitar once (which is the point I labeled him going PRO) to "let me show you how to make that riff more interesting", and then proceeded to show us all how to make that riff more interesting.
