1. Joe Besser
Wow, they really scraped the bottom of the barrel with that one.

2. That's a tough one Orrex.
Both of those guys were awesome in their own way. I think Curly was a little better at the slapstick.

3. That's my view as well
The only thing wrong with Shemp was that he wasn't Curly. Other than that, he brought plenty to the group and was a fine replacement.

Have you read As I Lay Kvetching, by any chance?

Available many places online, but here's the first one I found just now:

6. Thanks for the link.
Good stuff. My absolute all time favorite with just Curly is the "Oyster Stew" routine. Even the friggin' hat cracks me up!

7. I was late in achieving Stooge-appreciation
Edited on Thu Mar-19-09 03:17 PM by Orrex
I was almost 30 before I got over my "they're just acting like idiots" prejudice. Thereafter I was able to see that their stuff was really damned funny, and a lot smarter than the slapstick might first make it appear.

I love that mini-script. Seeing "woob woob woob woob woob" in print just kills me!

5. Shemp is under-rated
I think that it really depends on how good the writing was for a particular episode.

8. I agree.
I particularly liked the one where he dreams he's going to heaven then hell.

9. Shemp, absolutely
But then, I'm a girl and am therefore unqualified to critique the Stooges.
