This is the Sea - The Waterboys
Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 09:26 PM by mix
Found this a few weeks ago.

Awesome tune accompanying the visual telling of the history of big wave surfing, world-wide, but in northern CA in particular at a place called Mavericks (all the footage is from "Riding Giants"). It also tells the story of Hawaiian Mark Foo's death at Mavericks in 1994. Foo was one of the most skilled big wave riders at the time. It was his first time at Maverick's on a clear winter day in a crowded line-up of friends and rivals.

Beautiful images, sad essence, haunting music.

Enjoy.

expresses the same sentiment as the Mark Twain quote that "the river always wins," it almost seems like a response to it.

2. The Waterboys are fantastic!
There's a newer band out that sounds a lot like them, but without the more profound lyrics.
