13. Sorry! meant 'OUGHT' to stagger.
Don't recall price, but then, photos required. Definitely staggered, which we were able to do cause husband and I had used passports in the past, took first daughter out of country, then second daughter. Renewals a nuisance, but ok.

Hope you can work it out.

3. What????
I'm trying to remember renewing mine about four years ago. No effing way it cost $400.

Damn! If I win the lottery, I'll pay. It pisses me off to think how you're being screwed, and I'm Canadian!

4. Well, that's for 4 people altogether, but still. Smarts when I think how many
times we've crossed over with only birth certificates, and half the time no one ever even checked them. :eyes:

6. I still think it's a lot.
And let me tell you: I have a Canadian birth certificate which DOES NOT PROVE I am a Canadian citizen. Because of the laws that changed, I need to applyl for an "investigation into (my) status). It pisseth me off!

Let me say this: the maritime provinces are very much like home. If you're thinking of heading more westward, it may be worth it. Me, I'm unbiased: born in Toronto, raised in Vancouver (best city in the world).

go see Newfoundland. Not sure I am ever gonna get there, at this rate. :(

12. Went to PEI a couple of years back. As you know, I have two little goobers... I mean boys, and
so the closest I got to seeing anything "Anne" were the postcards at the campground store. *sigh*

17. It's part of that hidden cost of travel, and they can hurt.
To and from costs to airports, parking, not to mention all of the 'little' charges airlines have instituted. I'm saving up for pet care for the 2 weeks we'll be gone in June--it'll cost over half of what we're paying for one ticket to London--ouch!

If it helps, I told myself that the passport only came to $10 per year--too bad we can't pay for it that way. ;-)

24. We went there for our honeymoon. It's a lot like Maine, but just enough different
to know you are away from home.

We had wanted to go to Scotland, but the money just wasn't there for that. NS was just the thing to take its place. :)

19. Arrgh. As a native Mainiac I find this new rule irritating.
One of my grandparents lived on the border and they went back and forth daily with little more than a wave at the customs stop. I've gone to Canada many times with nothing other than my birth certificate as proof of citizenship.

Hubby who was born in '71 does not have dual citizenship. My BIL, who was born in '81, does!

25. Didn't know about those. $20 renewal though, $45 new
still cheaper.

The card has the same period of validity as the U.S. Passport Book: 10 years for an adult and 5 years for minors under age 16. The card costs $45 for a first-time adult passport applicant and $35 for all minor applicants under age 16, regardless of whether they are previous passport book or card holders. Adults who already have a fully valid passport book may apply for the card as a passport renewal by mail and pay only $20.
