There's no excuse for abuse of the apostrophe. It's so simple. The apostrophe indicates the possessive, and the absence of the apostrophe indicates number. That is not Nazi-ism, it's just goddamn grammar and common sense. Since when does being a Good Democrat mean just throwing grammar out the window?

2. Why do people make ANY of the many grammatical errors, not just with apostrophes, they make?
It must be because of laziness, or poor instruction in English classes, or inattention. I don'tknow but certainly the written form of English has suffered over the years...

8. I guess since you've decided to be a grammar facist, I should
point out that there is no such thing as a hyphenated nazi. It's nazism, not nazi-ism. Heil grammar!!!

13. Although I've never seen "nazi-ism" before, I like it,
because that's how I say it. I think the people cuius penes lingua est in the long run should make it a word now.

9. "its" doesn't have an apostrophe, but here the lack of apostrophe indicates possessive
:banghead: ;) :hi: But other than that, I don't think the rules for apostrophes are too hard :)

10. Misuse of quotation marks irritates, too.
Some friends and I were at a bar and grill not long ago. There was a sign at the bar that said "Wednesday's special--'Tacos'". We asked what the "tacos" really were.
