anyone familiar with a woman's name that sounds like YAM-a-lot?
For five days now I have been getting business calls for a woman by that name (she is a realtor). The number they are calling is my number for sure. One guy told me that she had just left him that number to call, so I conclude that none of them were really "wrong" numbers. I thought then that the poor woman seemed not to know her own phone number, but one caller today told me that he had not even punched in the number. It came up on his cell phone as a missed call and he simply hit "dial". So somehow her calls are showing up on caller ID as my number. She must be wondering about now why no one ever returns her calls. It took me several days to get even the a phonetic spelling of her name; because it is unfamiliar to me I wasn't sure I was hearing it correctly. Today I made a point of asking for the caller to repeat it (twice) because I now know the company she works for but I can't call her office without a name.

I called Bell and the Indian tech kept asking me "So do you have this woman's number?" "Ummm, it seems to be mine ... that's the problem". He then determined that since I could receive my incoming calls and make outgoing calls, then there really wasn't a problem. "Well yes there is" I said, "I am taking most of this woman's business calls and I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO." He then said it would be fixed tomorrow. We'll see. But now I'm just curious about the name. Is it some form of Omelet?

4. Yamilla? Or Jamila?
It's Arabic or Jewish, sometimes African.

5. those sound (and look) quite likely
I was thinking it might be something South Asian but these sound likely. Although I really thought I heard a "T" sound at the end. Next time someone calls I am going to listen even more carefully. If I keep getting these calls, I am going to track her down, for her own good. She won't last long in realty if her own phone is robbing her of business. Thanks jobycom! :D :hi:

9. I didn't think Yamalot was a name
Who knows, these days? Lots of names I do not recognize as names pop up every day, plus idiosyncratic spellings.

11. ~UPDATE~ Ma Bell fixes a problem!!!!
Armed with what I think to be the name Jamila (thanks jobycom)I called Bell repair and just got a call from a nice tech named Peter who immediately understood the problem after I had described it. I said "That's pretty weird, isn't it?" and he said "No, not really. I know exactly what happened". I told him the name and the company and I got to listen as he went through all the options at the realty company until he got the concierge who put him through to Jamila's line where he left a message. He said the company probably had multiple lines (of course) and it was a matter of finding which one she had used to make these calls and untangling the pathway. It was kind of interesting to hear him on his speaker using other lines to call around to XXXX Realty and tracking down a Jamila.
