Back in school, why did the boys have to swim naked?

4. I never did either, but we did for all six years of junior and senior high

so did some of the colleges in the area; my gym teachers also all had swam in the nude in their youth.

Actually, it was kind of cool, I love swimming nude.

But I never understood as to just why we couldn't swim in trunks. Though, actually, we *could* swim in trunks, but there was a lot of peer pressure not to. But when I was in high school, one gym class (not mine) managed to algin themselves, and they all wore swim suits. That was early 80s.

Now I think the swim classes in my old school are co-ed, though I could be wrong, but I'm rpetty they haven't done nuce swimming for quite some time.

I wonder if the nude swimming is an old WWI or WWII leftover, and also always wondered if maybe that was the easiest way to make sure that someone in a position of authority was able to see if any boy was being beaten or had other had other problems.

5. I have a friend who lifeguarded in college

at Michigan and talks of the Sunday morning naked water polo game played by old professors. frankly, I never had a pool in school, so no naked swimming for me.

In 1980 they stopped for some reason.

No nudity in my school

but at the end of class, we had to take them off and walk around the pool once naked to dry off, then they handed us towels.

And the suits were color coded by size, I recall every class had exactly one boy that had the orange "jumbo" size.
