Do you ever crave the idea of getting away, or going on a vacation?
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 11:24 PM by Mike 03
Lately I am obsessed with the idea of getting away from where I live.

Going somewhere new, or some favorite place far away from here.

Or some place I've never been.

I dream about this constantly. It feels like a craving, or obsession.

It's been a long time since I've been on what one would normally call a vacation: approximately the mid nineties (to be honest, 1993).

I'm dreaming about getting away from where I am, even for a week or so. But the way things are now, that would be hard.

Is it normal to have an intense desire to get away from where you live and to escape for awhile?

2. Yep, and I do so as often as I can
In Paris around August it seems like the entire city goes on holiday. Many go to the coast and even if they have to pitch a tent they still will go just for the opportunity to get away. I always thought they had the right idea.

8. Awesome. The furthest I've been from the U.S. is Calgary. At this point
I would go anywhere, but my dream is to visit Japan.

10. I've been all over the world
Thanks to the military. Some places were in areas nobody wants to go. I always thoroughly enjoyed seeing new places wherever I went. I'm fortunate enough now to have my own aircraft and the wife and I really enjoy the freedom it gives us. However, lately I've found I don't need to go all that far. Sometimes some really good things aren't that far away and I just enjoy getting out, seeing new things, and meeting new people. I don't really need to go far to do that.

3. Definitely.
Have taken real VACATions for most of my life, include exploring far away places and languages with kids.

You're PERFECTLY normal to feel like it, and NOT normal to have NOT done so!

PLAN (great fun) and GO (when you can.)

5. I think about running away every day.
I haven't had a "vacation" in 20 years.

Can't do it, though. Too many rely on me, and I've got nobody helping me.

6. Always. Unfortunately I was born into a working class family.
I want to go on a permanent vacation. All this drudging and life risking for very little personal pleasure blows.

9. Desperately, all the time.
I wish I could just grab Rhythm and LyricKid and the dog and GO somewhere. Anywhere but here.

*sigh*

11. Only if it meant I didnt have to come back.
I always want to get away but then I realize I'd have to come back. If I could take over somewhere distant and no one would ever find me then that'd be awesome. Cant affoard to even take off across town right now tho.

I need to get out before I explode. Life in Small Town, Minnesota is just so boring!

13. I'd like to escape and start over elsewhere...
but it's not going to happen.

Where are you located? Sometimes it helps just to take a day or a weekend away to someplace you've never visited.
