I know I've bugged everyone about this comic competition and I really hate being the salesman type, but at this point I'm really desperate. The prize for this is $13,000 and I don't have to tell anyone here how bad things have gotten. I REALLY could use the money. My wife has had thyroid issues for the last year and it's been rough on her to try to work. If I win this, I could be doing something I love, plus getting extra cash that we need.

Please. I beg you guys. Vote my comic up. I really could use the cash. There are only 2 days left in the competition so I need to make a move fast.

Owes nothing to anything Marvel or DC are churning out nowadays. As an artist, I'd say you're at least as good as Gary Frank.

Now some nitpicks and/or random musings:

- It's "wherever," not "where ever." (Page 4)

- A bit less of Comic Book Bold Italics™ would be better. Just a bit. Maybe the word count could be lessened a bit in general, while saying the same things.

- OMG, take a look at what I was going to say before I realized he's 19, not 14. You rock. You rock HARD.

- Eric looks non-teen somehow. Maybe make him a bit thinner. Or have some character notice that he looks 20. (Maybe from the powers, I don't know what you have planned.)

- Eric must've wondered about the nature of his powers as a child, when he fell. I mean, even an unbreakable object falling from that height wouldn't leave such a crater. There's more than just invulnerability there. But I'm sure we're gonna know about that later, ain't we?

- The Istanbul landscape -- where you got it from?

Hi everyone!

First off, I would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming response in helping Chris, he is honestly the most talented man I have ever met in my life. He deserves this sooo much! He has worked so hard all of these years to achieve his dream and that is to break into the comics world.

I am embarrassed to say that I was mistaken about the date the contest ends, it is not tomorrow, it is in fact the 31st which is Tuesday! You see the last contest ended on a Friday, and when I was reading the rules it talked about the contests starting on the first Monday of the month and ending on the last business day, so in my mind I thought it would be a Friday!

But this is good news right? That means we have that much more time to help Chris!

Chris is the best husband a gal could ever ask for, and the best father too! He loves his children so very much and they are the world to him. He and I have worked so hard for our children. But he wants to win this contest because I got sick.

I have Graves disease, and it is really affecting my eyes, heart rate of over 200 beats a minute at times, skipping beats etc... Oh and arggghhhh! My hair is falling out, I don't have much left! But luckily I had a lot to start with! :). After bouts of radiation treatments my thyroid just won't stop doing what it is doing, in fact according to my bloodwork we are now looking at a possible tumor on my pituitary gland which will require even more radiation to get the bugger to stop (my thyroid) it has been a long hard road going through a disease like this, I'm about ready to tell them to surgically remove the darned thing already (not really but sometimes I do think that).

I am not here to give my full medical history, although that is what it looks like above lol! But to let you know that this is why Chris is trying so hard to get this job. He is certainly not looking for a handout of any kind, but is willing to work however much he can to take care of me! And I do work, but from home. I am an artist as well although in a different medium than Chris so it is not like I am sitting on my booty not doing anything, but you all know that.

Thank you everyone for everything you are doing for us! We appreciate it soooo much!

The ballot stuffing isn't really important here because it's not a bona fide election as such. It's just a promotion. Still, the request was made to people who had no interest in the outcome except as fellow DU'ers, asking them to register and "vote" for the first time. I read that as encouraging people who are otherwise indifferent to the outcome to cast their ballots so that OP can collect $13,000.

It's actually not important enough to be called fraudulent but that's only because it's not a real election. I was thrown off by the $13,000 prize as if the contest really called for voters' endorsement of one person over another for reasons related to the stated reason for the election. As it turns out, the stated reason is only marginally relevant. The real purpose is to get new people to register.

Sorry you were offended. I'll stay out of these things in the future.

deviantart, facebook, myspace, etc. I looked at all the comics there (being a comic-aficionado myself) and I'm stunned about gatorboy's love to details - just look at the buildings and the incredible ink work done on the, where 'Deadly' runs with a more loose style and recurring sketches loosely inked, lacking much of details.

I don't vote out of courtesy, but I have to say that gatorboy's work is far, far more sophisticated. Great work all in all! (And I'm not a big fan of hero comics, but this is truly great work.)
