Poll question: Blue Chip Stamps or S&H Green Stamps?
Edited on Wed Mar-25-09 04:18 PM by Bertha Venation
Those of us of a certain age remember.

I remember that machine at the grocery store with a dial like a giant telephone dial. The cashier would dial you up so many stamps depending upon how much you spent at the store.

Okay, for you who've never heard of them: you got so many stamps per dollar's purchase at various places. You pasted the stamps into a little book. There was a catalog from which you could buy things with your stamps.

Inspired by a graywarrior reply in another thread.

1. I remember my mother pasting the S&H Green Stamps into the
booklets! And looking through the redemption catalog to see what we could get. Wow, thanks for those memories - hadn't thought about them in years. :)

3. S&H. I loved it when my mom let me paste the stamps into the book,
and then looking at the catalog for what we might be able to get.

We did green stamps for years.

5. I think we got most of our household decoration from the Blue Chip Stamp redemption center.
Who could forget the classic "Golden Surf" by Robert Wood?

7. And who can forget the green fingers from pasting those stamps in the books?
And a green tongue if you licked the stamps instead of using a sponge. :) Good times!

8. We had Top Value stamps 'round here...
they were yellow with red printing. I remember helping mom put them in the books sometimes... the Top Value redemption place was something of a landmark, and I still use it as a landmark for people who have lived here forever.

12. S & H Green Stamps. We also had Gold Bond stamps at stores where I grew up.
I just noticed that they all refer to a color. Wonder why that is.
