This is a definite downside to apartment living. :grr:

Never in my life have I experienced a hail storm like this. The ground was literally covered with ice and the smallest hail was still golf ball sized. It was so loud, we had to practically yell at each other just to hear.

I feel for the car several spaces down from me. I counted 3 holes in his/her back shield and one big hole in the front. :(

6. I was thinking the same thing when it started!
There were news reports of cars were stalled because of it and visibility was zero. According to the very excited local weather guy, this is some of the worst hail Austin has ever seen.

10. I'm in Dallas; this reminds me of the storm
that hit Arlington/FtWorth area several years ago. My sisters and their family were in a minivan that was just destroyed by hail; I think the insurance co literally totaled the car.

4. That sucks!
I'm looking at maybe a foot of snow tomorrow after a week of 70+ degrees, but as much as a pain in the ass snow will be, it won't cost me anything.

8. Yuck!
I can deal with cold and hot, but I can't deal with extreme changes like that. Mother nature should pick a season and stick with it. :D

5. My car survived, but it was something. Are you at the apartments you were a few years back?
I've moved back to them, just curious.

I was a couple miles away at my kids' house when the hail started. I was just telling them how this was tiny hail, then the golfballs started falling! We went out afterwards and collected some of the larger ones. But it wasn't as bad as what you're describing where I was. We had one like that in Austin in 93 that destroyed one of my cars. The hail was mid-calf deep in some places. These northwest Austin storms are crazy.

7. Yep, same place...
We're thinking of moving out once our lease is up since the rates are now too high to justify. I just hate the idea of moving though.

My mom lives in Lakeway and didn't get any hail. She needs a new roof so she was hoping to get something so that the insurance would pay the bill.

9. I moved out onto 620 for a while, then just moved back in November.
And the rent was cheaper than a lot of other places around. Probably because I was just moving in, whereas yours has been climbing since you moved in. There are some great rates because of the economy. You might even be able to negotiate a lower rate here.

There seemed to be a lot more hail on the ground here than just down the road, close to Braker. Glad my poor little car wasn't here, since I just canceled comprehensive on it. :(
