Why is it that when you get screwed over by...

...someone, you feel like you're the only person this happens to? And it seems like it's the worst thing that could happen, but you know it's not nearly as bad as it seems to you? Like you take it personally or something.....

?????

1. It's a shot to the ego.
Most things based in the self are taken personally, and not always in comparison to what has/may happen to another.

4. That must be it..

That's why it seems so significant, even though....it may really not have that much effect in the end.

2. Because you had hoped for something better and got the worst.
I'm going through something like that now too. Someone I had hoped wouldn't do something unethical, did it and then tried to drag me into it. I refused to do it and did the right thing instead. It still hurts like hell.

3. It seems so important right now..

..but speaking for myself, it is a blow to the ego. Other than that, I'm not sure it's as important as it really seems.

Hang in there. With time, I'm sure it will get easier.
