First thing I notice when I pull up is that his fancy new truck has "Impeach Obama" detailed on the back of the truck.

:eyes:

Took me all damned day because I had to download the updates to his installs, and he is on dial-up with about a 2.5k transfer rate. Cheezus! So, I did have to sit through Fox Channel and Billo, and a few rants from him about Obama.

He also needed help finding some important documents that my aunt used to manage and update. She passed away in April. So we spent about a hour tutorial on how to search and find things. (And did find the important info he was worried about.)

He started in some racial bullshit and I just reminded him that I could leave him with wallpaper background of Obama. He shut up after that. He now has a nice Allis-Chalmers tractor as a wallpaper. (He has a collection of every model ever made, must be hundreds of them in his little home away from home upstairs.)

I will NEVER agree to do something like that again! Dial-up is a PITA, and a 4 hour download for updates is fuckin' ridiculous. (Note* - he lives on a farm and no access to high speed there.)

He owes me, BIG TIME!!

1. In the end, blood is thicker than water
You did a good thing helping your Uncle... and a good thing threatening him

2. Yes, and honestly besides his politics, he's a pretty generous and loveable guy.
He lost his wife of 50 years in April, and has been pretty depressed and lonesome. She knew how to get around a PC and handled all that stuff, so he's been lost without her.

10. Yup. Blood is blood.
When shit hits the fan, politics should go out the window, and family should be there for family.

Ideally anyways.

4. I had a neighbor who needed help on her AC last summer
She was out of work so I fixed her system for a couple of Fosters. This winter her system crashed and she had no heat. She asked me to come by and maybe I could fix it for her, cheap. She had a Christmas card from George and Laura, proudly displayed on her kitchen counter. At that point, I decided that she needed to take personal responsibility for her distress and I refused to fix her system at any price. She was still out of work and had no money but I figured that she could compete in the free market or freeze but there was no way in hell that I was going to give her the welfare of my time and materials to let her suck on the tit of other peoples generosity because she could not afford the personal responsibility to not freeze. Such is the free market.

If she had one book from a progressive in her library, I probably would have fixed her system for less than cost but I'm not feeling very nice toward Republicans lately. Fuck em. Take responsibility for your own problems.

If you happen to be a progressive who believes we should all try to help each other through these difficult times, I can probably fix your HVAC system cheap.

Fuck Republicans! Let them solve their own problems in the free market.

7. I read your post once, and I thought,
"You little prick."

Then, I read it again, and I thought about what you wrote, took some time to consider it, and now I must say that I commend you for staying with your conscience and doing what you believe is right.

I would like to think that I'd have that kind of courage of my convictions if I were in your place. In fact, having read what you did, I know I would.

Good for you.

For your honesty and integrity, you have earned the beer-drinking pussycat:

12. I am no where as mean as my post would seem.
In fact, I'm a big pussycat that helps old lady's across the street but my tolerance for Republican hypocrates is wearing thin.

I"m not quite sure what to do with a beer drinking pussy but I will take it as complement.

11. I would have helped her. But I'm not an expert and would not have charged her.
Never hurts to be in the good graces of neighbors.

9. You wouldn't believe the awful things he says.
I think he was purposely trying to get a rise out of me yesterday, because it was so ridiculous. I won't repeat what he said, but even my mother didn't like it, and she's a Republican!

6. You are obviously a better 'family member' than I am.
No way I could bring myself to do so much free work
for one of my hardcore RW relatives.

Good for you.

8. I don't take money for doing someone a favor. Ever. Friend or family.
He'll make it up eventually. And virtually ALL of my family members are Republican; he just happens to be the worst one. So I've learned to live with it.

16. I used to be a PC technician.
A certain Freeper acquaintance occasionally needed his computer fixed. This was usually non-interesting, except for coming across the obligatory pro-GOP chain letters in the inbox and once finding a porn site involving horses in the browsing history.

Freepers should really learn how to erase their browsing history...

17. Horse porno? YUK! I didn't see any kind of porno on his PC, thankfully.
He just had all kinds of links to freeper sites, which is bad enough.
