I have a toothache and a dentist appointment for Monday,
and case of dental phobia that breaks dental phobia records.

I'm changing dentists, again, too. I had found a sedation dentist about 15 miles away, but needed to have someone else drive me for any major (sedation) procedure. I don't know that many people who are free during the day.

Now I've found a sedation dentist in the town where I live!! Don't know why I hadn't before. Well, his phone book ad doesn't say anything about sedation dentistry. But google took me to his website, which has all kinds of info about the various forms of sedation, and about the ANESTHESIOLOGIST on staff in his office. Yay!! A dental phobic with a heart murmur can't help but be pleased at the idea of an anesthesiologist in a dentist's office!

So, I've made an appointment. He's not actually in my PPO, but the PPO's website says it's pretty easy to get a doc added. I'm taking them at their word.

Wish me luck!

4. good luck critters2. I just got antibiotics for mine and will have to
call the office on Monday, since they're closed today, to find out when they can see me.

I've never heard of sedation dentistry. I'm glad you found a local one. I understand dental phobia, I'm right there with you.

5. Good luck!
i went yesterday, what i learned was---never, ever google dental issues, i had myself convinced i had advanced periodontal disease, gout and the heartbreak of soriocis, thankfully a few friends talked me off the ledge, i went and it was fine, not even any gingivitis! I've had a lot of dental work so you think i would be over the fear, nope.

6. I only googled to find a dentist, not looking for diagnoses.
Oh, and gout would be in your feet. :)

7. I used to have that problem.
For major procedures, the doctor gave me Halcyon for the night before and that day. For others, fillings or whatever, I just had to ignore the anxiety and do it anyway. Now that I'm on anxiety medication continually, it is not a problem for me anymore.
