re: Love
“I believe that we are put here in human form to decipher the hieroglyphs of love and suffering. And, there is no degree of love or intensity of feeling that does not bring with it the possibility of a crippling hurt. But, it is a duty to take that risk and love without reserve or defense.”
- Allen Ginsberg

4. Such foolishness just makes people vulnerable to being crushed and tossed aside.
As inevitably happens.

8. True, except for the part where it inevitably happens.
I think if everything about a person was peeled away to the core, that core would be a desire to be understood and loved, and a willingness to love and to understand. I do think those are the essential ingredients for happiness. Kind of like the Holy Grail. Very difficult to find, but it does exist. It's sort of like a dream, the kind of dream that keeps one going. It seems to me that totally giving up on that dream would be like resigning myself to a lifetime in prison without ever entertaining any thoughts of escape.

5. My dear redqueen...
And he was absolutely right.

Love always brings pain...but it's worth it.

Gretchen Jackson (Barbaro's owner) said it very well: "Grief is the price we all pay for love."

9. As if avoiding it isn't free of emotional risk, reserve, defense, or otherwise.
It's about the context.
