One of my friends collapsed at work today
Diabetic seizure.

We work on the same aisle - he's in the meat department and I'm in liquor - so we talk and joke a lot and I've known him for quite a few years now. He's a single dad to two teenagers and he had a heart attack (also at work :eyes: ) a couple of years ago.

I got back from lunch today to find an ambulance out front and about 7 EMT's clustered around him on my aisle. There was a pool of blood because he hit his head hard when he went down...

He's going to be okay - his daughter called a couple of hours later to let us know. But it sure was a crappy way to end the week. :(

3. I think it shook me up more than I thought it did
I was right there when he had the heart attack - luckily a fairly minor one that he remained conscious and lucid through. I was okay at work but since I got home, I've just felt kind of aimless and scattered. It sucks seeing people you care about carted off in ambulances.

6. Glad he's going to be okay. You okay?
You've got to be freaked after that.

I lost a friend/co-worker from diabetes. He went home on Friday and they found him the next Monday. I was part-time, and he was full time, and I was looking for a full time job. Literally, the last thing I told him was that I hoped I didn't get stuck with his job. We laughed, and he went home and died, and I've had his job ever since. Pete had a sense of humor, that's for sure. Still miss him.

8. Thanks - yeah, I'm okay
It did shake me up, more than I thought. I was glad that his daughter called to let us know he was okay - it was bad seeing him carted out of there.

I'm going to give him hell when he gets back - he's got to quit keeling over because it's not doing me a bit of good!

9. It's the kind of thing that creeps on you.
You think you can handle it, you think you are handling it, and eventually you realize you're half in shock.

And give him Hell, like you said. Let him know you care. Might even do him some good. :)
