Yesterday was PAYDAY, and I came home to find that my car is back from the shop.
The mechanic's bill is $110 -LESS- than my paycheck. WHOoHOOOO! :bounce:

Considering the fact that I make minimum wage
and I kinda sorta accidentally set the car ON FIRE last week,
I hafta assume that someone up there loves me.

Life is good.

2. OK, that's a long story that isn't half as interesting as it sounds from the description....
And I need to be awake again in 4 hours to pull
a long shift on our 2nd-busiest day of the week.

So, can I get back to you sometime late Sunday Afternoon (EST)
with the sordid & BORING tale of the day I set my car on fire?

6. OK, I'll try to keep it brief:
The other Monday, I was running late for work.
So naturally, when I finally got into my crappy little car
and turned the key...nothing happenned. The battery was
completely dead.

All of my housemates were away, and there was no other vehicle
there to jump-start my car. So, I decided to do things the hard way
and replace the battery with a spare I had bought several weeks before.

But in my haste, I failed to notice that the polarity of the spare was OPPOSITE that of the original. SO, I connected it BACKWARDS. :dunce:

The results were really not what I wanted. The alternator was destroyed,
and some of the wires in the engine compartment got hot enough
to IGNITE their plastic insulation. Needless to say, I was NOT
a happy camper! I was so dismayed, I didn't even CURSE- just
stared at it with my mouth hanging open until the smoke stopped coming out.

But I'm feeling much better now. The damage was amazingly limited.
One thing I destroyed was the remote starting system. Which isn't
really a big deal, because I never knew the thing HAD a remote starting system.

Coulda been worse, I suppose.
