buying swimsuits for tweens
I've been looking everywhere! My daughter is too large for girls sizes but the junior options are too damn slutty for a 12 year old. Anyone know of a place you can get cute stylish swimwear that's not stripper pole material? (and any smartass that posts a link to the Duggar's wholesome swimwear page is getting a virtual kick in the balls! :spank: )

1. Justice for Girls?
Used to be called Express or Limited or something like that. That's where my girls have had luck finding things they like.

2. you could get her a tankini and then a pair of board shorts to wear over the bottoms.
i don't what stores you have there but here we have a bunch of skate and surf shops that sell all kind of bathing suits. the board shorts will cover a skimpy bikini bottom and they dry really fast.

3. I know it's tough!
Last summer we did the tankin tops w/board shorts for the 12 yr. old dd and that seemed to keep all of us happy. The only other thing I can suggest is going w/Speedo if you want one-piece suits. Two pieces are easier to make them fit correctly, however.

We've had better luck finding suits at Lands End (they can have good clearance suits), Target and Old Navy.

10. I agree...
they seem to have more of the classic styles than I've seen in most stores...and good quality too.

my local Sears evens lets you order from the catalog and pick up your order there(and return it there if needed), without shipping costs. They do have nice bathing suits.

7. I found a nice one piece at JC Penney last month.
We had a "pool party and sleepover" that Friday before Valentine's Day and (of course) one kid showed up with a swimsuit that didn't fit any more and $25 in cash. This girl is about average in size but she does tend to run a little larger on the bottom than she does on the top.

Did I mention that her family is pretty conservative?

We all trooped out to the mall (me with six 11 and 12 year olds on a Mall Crawl was not anything I ever want to do again, btw) and managed to find a suit that the kid could look good in AND that we thought her parents would let her wear.

I AM a superwoman!

8. Target seems to have a nice variety - some less revealing than others...

9. I absolutely LOVE the Converse line of girls/women's swimwear at Target.
Both of my girls wear them.
They're well constructed,
inexpensive, cut right and
NOT confused for stripper-
wear.
