1. I think that all living creatures have stimulus response
capabilities, trees will grow around something in their way, not because they are thinking just as an adaptation.

To equate memory to adaptation seems a stretch in the clam studies, or whatever.

I do hate the boiling of lobsters as they scream, it is creepy. Although I don't believe it is akin to torture.

On the other hand if you put a frog in water and raise the temperature of the water to boiling it will kill it and they won't fight or react at all.

I think that some of the conditions that we put animals in prior to killing them for food are the real cruelties of the deal.

vegetarians will starve, lol

I'm outta this thread :yoiks:

7. Because it is not a mammmal , only cute furry mamamals can be tortured
not nasty insects and other creepy crawlers

4. Link?
I'm curious as to how plants accomplish these feats without a central nervous system.

10. Well, if you want a considered response
I can tell you that according to the Hare Krishnas there is even karma involved in killing a plant. So even a vegetarian diet is not karma free.

12. I think I'm higher on the food chain than everything, so fuck the world.
My favorite GD response in food threads. Mostly because it's stupid.

13. That explains the near murder last summer
almost committed by a bunch of spinach I was growing.

I cruelly snipped off some of their leaves.

The remaining plants stalked me day and night...
