NEWTON – Students at Sanborn Regional Middle School were evacuated yesterday after a note threatening that a bomb would go off at noon was found in a boys' restroom.
The threatening message was similar to one that shut down Sanborn Regional High School in Kingston last Friday.
Newton Police Chief Larry Streeter said yesterday's note likely came from a copycat. The incident remains under investigation.
The note was found about 8:30 a.m. and prompted officials to clear the school. Students were moved to the gymnasium at the Memorial School, which is the elementary school situated on the same school campus.
