16. My guess as to the timeline
After the plane crashed, they were on the island for a few months before 6 of them got away. It was 3 years between Jack, Kate, Saiyid, Sun, etc. left the island and their return. That's why Aaron is a baby in some flashback scenes and a toddler in others.

5. blah
Hi,
I must have missed something, episode didn't really work for me. Just seemed like a strange episode all around.

Why did Kate give Sawyer's ex the full story on the 6?
When did Sawyer give her the money?
When was that taking place?

I don't know, I just didn't find it a very satisfying episode. I will watch it again and maybe my opinion will change.

Peace

6. .
1) I can only guess that Kate was trying to convince her that Sawyer was a good guy, so she told her about the helicopter swan dive. The rest of the story was kind of pulled out of Kate after Sawyer's baby mama sensed that Aaron wasn't Kate's kid.
Also, Kate just can't keep a secret worth a damn. She was dying to tell somebody.

2) That was Kate's money from the Oceanic settlement with the survivors. Kate just told her that it was from Sawyer.

3) That took place some time shortly after the 6 got off the island. Definitely within the first year, probably within the first month.

I agree about this episode.

Very soap-opera-esque. Lot's of talking and not much action, or furtherance of the plot.

12. Kate and Cassidy were friends before Kate went to the Island the first time
Cassidy helped Kate try to see her mother who had turned her in to the authorities.

And, if you'll remember, Sawyer gave Kate a secret instruction of some sort right before he jumped out of the helicopter.

The secret was to bring $$$ to Cassidy, and they must have spent some time catching up when they first re-connected.

7. this is an odd season...
they pretty much showed us what was going on in the first few eps.

now they are spending the rest of the season explaining what they already showed us. the details.

its nice, getting answers to questions and all.

its just not very lost like. kinda boring.

i did love the conversation between hurley and miles tonight. any hurley scene is automatically one of my favorites. i don't get all of this time travel shit. and when hurley posed that final question to miles... and miles was confused...

hurley crossed his arms and smiled. i smiled too...

9. think of it as a rollercoaster ride
We are on the slow uphill part of the ride. The longer that goes on, the better the downhill part. And I think the downhill part is going to kick ass.

8. I wonder...
It's been established on the show that "you can't change the past/what's already happened" but...if you're IN the past (1977), can you change the FUTURE (which would be the main characters' normal present)? Or do the actions in the past create the future they already know?

Okay, once again, my brain hurts.

I actually liked the ep. I thought Evangeline Lilly did some great work. And my mommy-gene kicked into overdrive at the thought of giving away your child (or even one you've come to love as your own even if he's not yours). YES after the show was over I went upstairs and kissed my 5 YO boy (who looks a lot like Aaron) as he slept. So sue me. x(

if this change in the timeline results in Ben being a better guy or a bigger jackass. It seems like they are heading toward his dad not being such a jerk toward him.

13. Re: Richard Alpert's Bosses
When Kate and Sawyer handed Ben over to Richard some of the other Others questioned his acting without talking to "Charles" and "Ellie".

So it looks like Charles Widmore and Eloise Hawking are running the show for the Others in the past timeline.

Now I'll have to go back and reevaluate every previous reference to those two in light of this reveal.

29. Then again, Mr. Maybelline (Richard) has appeared to be the same age...
...no matter what point in time we get to see him.

Logical to assume that Widmore might have access to the same technology? (or magic)

Perhaps the temple can do more than heal someone. Maybe it can also bestow immortality.

20. I'm not sure, but....
ABC use to replay the season in the summer, but I don't know if they still do that. If you don't mind watching videos on your computer, abc.com has all the episodes available for free (all 5 seasons actually).

I know the SciFi channel is starting to air previous seasons of LOST now, but I would be surprised if they aired season 5 by the time summer rolls around.

22. About the timeline issue....
I'm really glad Hugo and Miles had their paradox conversation. I'm not sure how much it helped me, but at least they were funny about it. :D

I'm still struggling with the idea that the Oceanic 6 can't "change" the future. Does this mean that the same results will occur, but that events will just happen in a different way to get there? In timeline one, I assume little Ben wasn't shot at all but ended up working with the Others prior to the purge. In timeline two, Sayid shoots little Ben so Ben is handed over to the Others and I assume this leads up to the purge. Does this mean present day adult Ben would have new or different memories of his childhood now?

Both timelines start out the same (little Ben filled with hate and wanting to escape the Dharma camp) and I assume they end the same (purge), but the middle is different. Is this possible?

24. Whatever happened, happened
When the 815'ers originally came to the Island, they had already been there before in 1977.

There is no Timeline 1 or Timeline 2. There is only The Timeline. Sayid always shot Ben in 1977. Kate and Sawyer always took him to Alpert to be fixed. Jack always refused to help Ben in 1977. This is static; nothing can be changed. Everything happens the way it's always happened.

(The only possible exception to this is with Desmond, I think. Faraday exploited this in the episode where he visited Desmond in The Swan. I don't remember the explanation now, but Desmond obviously has an unusual relationship with time. Probably due to the fact that he was at Ground Zero when he activated the failsafe on The Swan.)

then Hurley's point is still valid: Why wouldn't Ben remember Sayid when they first captured Ben? Unless he now remembers his past happening that way. How odd.

31. When Richard took young Ben to save his life...
...he warned Kate and Sawyer that it would wipe his memory and rob him of his "innocence".

Maybe there's a strip club in the temple that serves tequila? That would do it.
